Torsional stiffness is one of the most important performance of a car body. There are several tools that allow engineers to reach the target of torsional mode frequency, typically optimization of the thickness of metal sheets are carried out.
However, during a real case of platform development, there are several other issues involving the project: weight, crash, fatigue, manufacturing etc. During weekly meetings all actors involved in the development are asked to find a compromise.
This requires fast, reliable and effective answer. This paper deals with a methodology that allows to assess in real time the effect of every single metal sheet on weight and torsional mode.
